Dear KCU Community,
This Monday, Kansas City University will join the nation in honoring the Reverend Martin Luther King Jr., who dedicated his life to servant leadership and in turn implored each of us to engage in profound self-reflection with these six words:
“What are you doing for others?”
Dr. King relied on this persistent and urgent question not only as inspiration for his own actions and rich legacy of civil rights advocacy but also as a clarion call to our citizenry. It is the reason the MLK holiday we celebrate has become a time to pursue meaningful public service and community outreach.
This holiday weekend, I encourage each member of our university community to honor Dr. King’s legacy with an act of service. There are many opportunities available in Kansas City and Joplin. Whether it's volunteering at local health clinics, participating in community clean-ups or lending a helping hand to those in need, our collective efforts can make a significant difference – not only on this one day, but through a spirit of “doing for others” in the months and years to come. For in our service to others, we live the Kansas City University mission of improving the well-being of the communities we serve.
Thank you for your commitment to making a positive impact in the lives of others.
Yours Truly,
Marc B. Hahn, DO
President and Chief Executive Officer
