The University currently operates on a semester basis. Prior to 1990, the academic year was comprised of trimester terms.

Accreditation

KCU is fully accredited by the Bureau of Professional Education of the American Osteopathic Association (AOA). The AOA is the only accrediting agency for osteopathic medicine approved by the United States Department of Education and Council of Higher Education Accreditation. KCU is also accredited by the Higher Learning Commission of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools. The KCU Psychology Doctorate is approved by HLC, and will apply for full accreditation through the American Psychological Association when eligible.

All official electronic transcripts sent by KCU will be marked with a certified blue ribbon in Adobe® Acrobat or Adobe® Reader bearing the words, "This document was certified by the National Student Clearinghouse with a valid certificate issued by GeoTrust CA for Adobe." Documents without this certification should not be accepted.
