Kansas City University (KCU) has partnered with Care Beyond the Boulevard, a nonprofit dedicated to providing health care for underserved Kansas City communities, to offer its clinical psychology (PsyD) students hands-on training under the guidance of KCU alumnus Tyler Staples, PsyD.
Through KCU’s new Center for Population Health and Equity, PsyD students will join the Care Beyond the Boulevard team, providing essential mental health services to those with limited access to care. Staples, who will both oversee the students and provide care for clients, shared his enthusiasm about the partnership’s impact:
“Our goal is to make mental health services more accessible to underserved populations, while also helping the next generation of psychologists gain hands-on experience in community-based care,” he said.
This collaboration aligns with KCU’s mission by training compassionate professionals dedicated to improving the health and well-being of diverse populations, especially the marginalized and underserved.
The partnership, which began this fall, marks an important step forward for both KCU and Care Beyond the Boulevard in their shared commitment to increasing access to quality health care.
