Master of Science of Biomedical Sciences Admission Requirements

Is your lifelong goal to attend medical school, dental school or any other health science professional school, to make discoveries in a biomedical research laboratory or explore health and disease in humans? KCU’s Master of Science of Biomedical Sciences program will prepare you to become an immediate contributor in the growing life sciences industry.

Admission requirements for the Master of Science of Biomedical Sciences
program are as follows:

I. Completed Application (Application will open in October)

II. Bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited college or university

III. Competitive GPA

3.3 science and cumulative GPAs

While KCU likes to see a 3.3 GPA, applicants with lower GPAs who show an upward trend throughout their academic careers will be reviewed. Additionally, science grades are looked at closely as the science GPA can be predictive of success in the College of Biosciences (BIOS) program.

IV. Prerequisite undergraduate coursework (completed with a grade of C or better)

· Biological Sciences – 12 semester hours (18 quarter hours)

· Chemistry - 13 semester hours (19.5 quarter hours)

· Physics - 8 semester hours (12 quarter hours)

V. Two letters of recommendations

Letters must be from science faculty members and dated within two years of matriculation year (e.g., if starting classes at KCU in July 2025, letters must be dated no earlier than May 2023).

VI. Oral and written communication skills

Test Scores

Test scores are optional for admission to the BIOS program. If submitting a test score (MCAT, DAT, GRE or other related tests), the test submitted should correspond to future goals/plans for professional school. For example, an applicant who wishes to apply for medical school upon completion of the program should submit MCAT scores. GRE scores must be sent directly to KCU from ETS. Our school code is 6182. For MCAT, DAT or other related tests, send a PDF screenshot of test scores to [email protected]. For entry to the class starting in 2025, tests must be taken no earlier than May 2023.
