Dear KCU Community,
On this Veterans Day, I invite you to join me in reflecting upon the extraordinary number of women and men who, throughout history, have selflessly dedicated themselves to protecting our country through their service in the United States Armed Forces.
I am also proud to remind our community of Kansas City University’s longstanding commitment to the military and unique place we hold in history. Alumnus Harry J. Walter, DO (COM ’65), was the first osteopathic physician admitted into the Medical Corps of the U.S. Armed Forces. Commissioned into the Air Force as a medical officer in 1966, Dr. Walter opened the door for thousands of DOs who have followed with distinguished military service.
Over the years, countless KCU COM graduates have ensured our country’s safety and provided our service members and their families with high-quality, compassionate medical care. Our Class of 2024 alone graduated 16 osteopathic physicians who are serving our U.S. Armed Forces today.
As a veteran, I am honored to have served our country, and I offer my deep appreciation to those who took the oath to support and defend the Constitution of the United States.
Yours truly,
